The Tega Cay app allows users to search local shops and restaurants, view the city’s calendar of events, report non-emergency issues, receive emergency notifications and much more.
The City of Tega Cay first met with iCity in September 2013. The City recognized the value of the smart-phone app and how it could help local businesses and the citizens of Tega Cay.
“Our staff is constantly working on ways to best keep our residents informed of things going on in Tega Cay and we have been looking for ways to better promote our local businesses. iCity gave us a tool that was able to accomplish both”, said City Manager Charlie Funderburk. “Our residents are very engaged and want to know what is going on in and around their city. This new app helps accomplish this and we are very excited about it”, added Mayor George Sheppard.
The Tega Cay app includes a detailed shopping and dining feature that contains contact information, addresses and directions through Google maps. The City Calendar lets users add any city event to their Smart Phone Calendar, as well as the directions to the event.
One of the most unique features is the Push Notifications. With it, Tega Cay can send out emergency alerts such as school closings and weather events. “Being able to send alert notifications in the event of an emergency situation is an invaluable public safety resource for us”, Chief Rick Evelsizer stated. Additionally, the City of Tega Cay citizens can report non-emergency issues such as graffiti, potholes and code violations to the proper city staff. The request can include a photo of the problem and GPS coordinates.
We encourage all residents living in and around Tega Cay to download the app and take advantage of the convenient connection to city information. Simply visit the App Store from your iPhone or the Google Playstore from your Android device and search Tega Cay to load the app!
