In case you didn’t think we were serious...Over the past few weeks we have closed parks and other facilities as COVID-19 continues to spread in our area. We’ve urged folks to stay home and social distance. We’ve shared vital information on how you can protect yourself, information on resources for small businesses and even had some fun with memes. If you are in the group that hasn’t taken this pandemic seriously...you need to start now.
As of March 6, according to SCDHEC, there are over 2,000 confirmed cases state wide and 95 confirmed cases in York County. 11 of those cases are within the 29708 zip code. Over the next 7-days, numbers for York County are projected to reach between 300 and 500 cases.
You can help keep that number down by STAYING AT HOME! We know your kids are struggling and need social interaction. Right now is not the time for that. KEEP THEM AT HOME. We began closing facilities on March 16th and we are still seeing kids gathering in groups at our parks and on the golf course. They are not immune to the virus and they are occupying a lot of time from our public safety resources. If you weren’t sure before because we were using humor to convey the point, we want to be perfectly clear now... STAY HOME. THE PARKS ARE CLOSED. THE GOLF COURSE IS CLOSED. PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE LAKE AND RIVER ARE CLOSED. SOCIAL DISTANCE and STAY IN SMALL GROUPS.
