York County expects to see impacts from Hurricane Michael as a tropical storm passing to our southeast tomorrow. Current forecast has York County receiving 4-6 inches of rain within the 24-hour period on Thursday. Wind speeds from 25 – 40 mph sustained and wind gusts up to 50 mph could be seen. Potential impacts are flash flooding, isolated flooding, downed trees and power outages. If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1. If you see a downed tree across a road (during business hours) call 548-3512. If you see a downed tree on a road outside of normal business hours dial 548-0340. Do not drive through flooded areas.
The outdoor warning siren test scheduled for today has been canceled. Due to the potential for severe weather and the desire to minimize any public concern when hearing a siren, the outdoor warning siren test for Catawba Nuclear Station is rescheduled to Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at approximately 11:50 a.m.
