Description of Tega Cay Flag Football Programs

6U Flag Football (5-6)

Our 6U Flag Football division is offered every spring and fall to children who are league ages 5 and 6 years old(age as of August 31st of that school year). The 6U age group is our first introduction to flag football.  The focus is learning the basic fundamentals of football (throwing, catching, running), while also learning game play.  Teams will play on a 60 x 40 field and use a regulation Pee Wee size football. The 6U age group will generally practice once a week prior to the start of game and keep their practice slot once games begin.  Practices can be held during the week and on weekends.  Teams will play 1 to 2 games per week (usually on Saturdays but weeknights are possible) and will typically last for 7-8 weeks. There will be a referee on the field in addition to 2 coaches during game play.  Participants can expect practices to be held at Look Out Park, Trailhead Park, Catawba Park or Tega Cay Elementary School with games at Turner Field, Catawba Park, or Tega Cay Elementary School.

8U Flag Football (7-8)

Our 8U Flag Football division is offered every spring, summer, and fall to children who are league ages 7 and 8 years old (age as of August 31st of that school year). The 8U age group is more competitive than the 6U age group, but the focus is still on skill progression and fundamentals. This is the first level where scores are recorded, standings are kept and playoffs are offered at the end of the season.  Teams will compete on a 60 x 40 field and use a regulation Pee Wee size football.  The 8U age group will generally practice twice a week prior to the start of the season dropping down to 1 practice once games begin.  Practices can be held during the week and on weekends.  Teams will play 1 to 2 games per week (usually on Saturdays but weeknights are possible) and will typically last for 7-8 weeks.  There will be a referee on the field in addition to 1 coach during game play.  Participants can expect practices to be held at Look Out Park, Turner Field, Catawba Park, or Tega Elementary School with games at Turner Field, Catawba Park, or Tega Cay Elementary School.

10U Flag Football (9-10)

Our 10U Flag Football division is offered every spring, summer, and fall to children who are league ages 9 and 10 years old (age as of August 31st of that school year).  The 10U age group is our next level of competition for flag football.  Teams will compete on a 60 x 40 field and use a regulation Junior size football.  The 10U age group will generally practice twice a week prior to the start of the season dropping down to 1 practice once games begin.  Practices can be held during the week and on weekends.  Teams will play 1 to 2 games per week (usually on Saturdays but weeknights are possible) and will typically last for 7-8 weeks.  There will be a referee on the field but coaches are not allowed on the field during play.  Participants can expect practices to be held at Look Out Park, Turner Field, Catawba Park, or Tega Cay Elementary with games at Turner Field, Catawba Park, or Tega Cay Elementary School.

13U Flag Football (11-13)

Our 13U Flag Football division is offered for the first time this spring to children who are league ages 11, 12 and 13 years old (age as of August 31st of that school year).  The 13U age group is our highest level of competition for flag football.  Teams will compete on a 60 x 40 field and use a regulation Youth size football.  The 13U age group will generally practice twice a week prior to the start of the season dropping down to 1 practice once games begin.  Practices can be held during the week and on weekends.  Teams will play 1 to 2 games per week (usually on Saturdays but weeknights are possible) and will typically last for 7-8 weeks.  There will be a referee on the field but coaches are not allowed on the field during play.  Participants can expect practices to be held at Look Out Park, Turner Field, Catawba Park or Tega Cay Elementary with games at Turner Field, Catawba Park, or Tega Cay Elementary School.
