Fiber Project Information
Google Fiber and Comporium will resume fiber installation project in various areas of Tega Cay beginning Spring 2026. additional information on both projects can be found below.
Google Fiber
Google Fiber will officially begin work and construction in Tega Cay at the beginning of May! This is an exciting project for our City as we are the very first City in the State of South Carolina to be a Google Fiber City. On this page, you will find more information about the project and what it will bring to our residents. Their installation and construction will begin in the Cadence neighborhood.
Google Fiber will be placing door knockers at residences across the City before they begin construction in your neighborhood. If you experience any damage from the installation or have questions about the installation or Google Fiber, please call 877-454-6959, the number listed on the door knocker, and select option “3” to speak to a live person. Google Fiber is working with ITS and other subcontractors to complete their project.

Comporium
While Comporium’s teams are working to upgrade the network in your neighborhood, you will likely see the following happen:
• Comporium and other locator crews marking buried lines/pipes for power, communications, and city utilities using paint and flags,
• Comporium crews and contractors digging using one of the following methods:
o Hand-digging small holes to help locate existing buried lines and pipes
o Digging with mini-track hoes to install vaults and bury duct
o Digging with a directional drill rig to install duct without the need for a trench
• Comporium crews and contractors installing vaults and pedestals to hold fiberoptic equipment.
• Comporium crews and contractors installing fiberoptic cables and equipment – this final activity should not disrupt residents or their property.
