River Access Points To Close During I-77 Bridge Project

Due to public safety concerns during the upcoming South Carolina Department Of Transportation (SCDOT) I-77 Catawba River Bridge Project, representatives from Duke Energy, The City of Rock Hill, The City of Tega Cay and The Town of Fort Mill have announced the temporary closure of all Catawba River access points from the Lake Wylie Dam to the River Park Access. These locations will be closed for the duration the project, currently scheduled to begin Thursday, May 6 and conclude Monday, May 24.

The affected river access points that will be closed are:
*Fort Mill River Access (Tega Cay)
*Baxter Neighborhood Access (Baxter)
*Mason’s Bend Access (Fort Mill)
*Riverwalk Access (Rock Hill)
*Westminster Park Access (Rock Hill)
*Camp Canaan Access (Rock Hill)
*River Park Access (Rock Hill)

This SCDOT project will close the southbound I-77 bridge over the Catawba River, with southbound traffic diverted to the northbound lanes to accommodate two-way traffic over the bridge, two lanes in each direction. A temporary, concrete median will be in place to separate the northbound and southbound traffic. The southbound on-ramp at Sutton Road (exit 83) will be closed, with all northbound on-ramps closed at Cherry and Celanese Roads (exit 82).
