Voluntary Water Restrictions for Tega Cay

The Tega Cay Utility Department is requesting all customers voluntarily reduce their external water usage. This includes reducing: irrigation time limits, washing of vehicles/boats, watering flowers/plants and pressure washing activities. Due to the current high demand and lack of rainfall,  it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep elevated tank levels at a safe storage capacity. Low tank levels will reduce water pressure inside customers’ homes or place of business and will reduce hydrant flows necessary for fire suppression. Your cooperation will potentially reduce the chance of mandatory restrictions in the coming weeks.

Here are some ways in which you can reduce water usage:

  • Change your irrigation timer to 2-3 days/week instead of every day and reduce the amount of time each zone runs.
  • Take your vehicle to a car wash facility as they typically reuse/recycle the water (Sam’s Car wash on Hwy 160 and the Circle K at the corner of Dam Rd are close options.
  • Use dishwater/bathwater to water plants.
  • Hold off on pressure washing activities until we have received significant rainfall.

These reductions are currently voluntary. Please be advised mandatory restrictions could be set in place within the next coming weeks. We will provide updates as necessary.
