Urgent Recycling News: Contamination

The City has been notified we are currently experiencing a high volume of contamination.  The following items have been found in our recent recycle loads taken to the York County Facility: Plastic bags, glass, metal, wood scraps, yard clippings, Styrofoam, and car parts.   These items SHOULD NEVER be placed into your recycling bins.    For a list of items acceptable in your bins, visit our website  If you did not receive an updated recycling sticker, visit us at City Hall.

Remember, when in doubt, throw it out. Never place plastic bags, glass, yard debris, or wood in your bin. Always place accepted items loosely in your recycling bin, not in plastic bags. And please help educate your neighbors if you notice incorrect items in their bins.  If contamination levels do not decrease the curbside recycling program will be discontinued.
