After receiving applications from around the Country, Tega Cay has named Glyn Hasty as its next Fire Chief. Chief Hasty is from Indian Land, SC and has worked for the Charlotte Fire Department since 1990 with his most recent position as Fire Battalion Chief at Charlotte Douglas Airport. Chief Hasty got his start, like many fire fighters, as a volunteer. He serves with the Indian Land Volunteer Fire Department and was with the Waxhaw Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief until 2010.
“Chief Hasty has an extensive background in Fire and Life Safety and Emergency Management. His background and knowledge will serve our Fire Department and our City well for years to come”, City Manager Charlie Funderburk said. “We were looking for a leader who not only could lead and mentor our career staff, but also find a solid way to recruit and retain volunteers for the Department. It was important to our Department that we find someone who has ‘come up through the ranks’ and knew what it took to be the best Fire Department in the area. Chief Hasty is exactly who we were looking for.”
It is anticipated that Chief Hasty will officially begin with the Tega Cay Fire Department in late April as he finishes out his time with the Charlotte Fire Department. Chief Hasty will be officially introduced to City Council and the public at the April 15th City Council Meeting where he will take his oath of office from Mayor O’Neal.
