The City of Tega Cay Events would like to thank everyone who came out and supported Catawba Fest! In its second year, Catawba Fest was greeted with the collision of summer to fall with rain until 10 am where the artisans and crafters, business and food vendors brought their wares out to create a great shopping experience.
The mission of Catawba Fest is to promote and enrich the fabric of the City of Tega Cay by focusing on the development of the city image, creating a safe destination of community spirit for visitors and residents, while encouraging retail promotions for economic growth while celebrating the town’s growing history.
In partnership with the city’s Hall of Fame Community Sponsors: Carmen Miller Group, Dick's Sporting Goods and Piedmont Medical Center, Catawba Fest featured an arts and crafts show, an eating contest, a FREE kid’s zone and a cool selection of entertainment locally and across the region.
Special thanks to community volunteers Tony McIntyre and Robert Braun for hosting the Smokin’ Ed’s Stage where kids ages 7 to adult competed in the pumpkin pie eating competitions, hottest wing competition and mini-Bundt cakes. Special thanks to Ed Currey owner of PuckerButt Pepper Company, Vanessa Wood of Tega Cay Bundt Cakes and Shannon Thomas of Southern Solutions.
Thank you to our Community Volunteer Carol and Jason Pilarcyzk for working with the Fort Mill Beta Club Students who were super fantastic as vendor assistance.
The heartbeat of the festival began and ended with city staff. The Parks and Rec Department’s Joe Hedgepath, Brian Baker, Charles James, Paul Bartoloeta , Lawrence Friend, JR Cauthen, Daniel Parrish, Matt Saunders lead by Director Dustin Overton. Public Works Department’s Jeremy Hutchison, Chris Richards, Damion Spears, Anthony Arnette, Fred Wylie and Lawrence Singletary. Social Media/Information Specialist Gretchen Kalar became a staple of the event as she assisted vendors from morning into the events while maintaining a social media presence.
Thank you so much to the Tega Cay Fire and Police Departments for maintaining the safety of the event through site safety and vendor inspections while assisting vendors during the soggy morning load-in.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support Catawba Fest. Though the day began with rain, the day began to clear early morning lifting spirits with fantastic shopping, music by the Gold Hill Middle School, eating competitions and community spirit.
