Doing Business in Tega Cay
Before opening up your doors for business, you will need to obtain a City of Tega Cay Business License. Contact the Administration Office with any questions.
The majority of our commercial zoning is located in the Stonecrest and Graystone Commons Developments located along Hwy 160. For each zoning district, there is a list of uses that are permitted for that specific zoning district. When looking for a place to start or relocate your business, it is important to make sure the zoning on the site allows the proposed use. Refer to the City’s Zoning Map and Zoning Code for details, or contact the Zoning Administrator at 803.548.3513 x 110. Please note that a Zoning Compliance Permit is required before any work commences in your proposed place of business.
Whether you are considering moving into a new building, an existing building and up-fitting the space, or using an existing building as configured there are some things you need to know regarding Tega Cay’s building regulations. All three situations listed here most likely will require the issuance of a Building Permit. If you are considering starting a business in Tega Cay, please be advised that there are fire and life safety requirements in every location. These requirements may include the installation of sprinklers, fire and smoke alarms, emergency lighting and exit signs. If you plan to open a restaurant there are additional requirements to ensure the cooking operations are properly protected.
