The City of Tega Cay features an excellent system of parks which offer a variety of activities for residents, plus a place for families to gather for picnics and other outdoor activities. The Parks & Recreation Department offers sports programming for participants of all ages in the fall, spring and summer months. The department is home to over 4200 participants year around in 7 different sports.
The City of Tega Cay offers a variety of events over a calendar year (Mayor's Cup, 4 Summer Concerts, July 4th, Fall Festival, Senior Games and Holiday Tree Lighting in addition to our recreation programs. Combined, these activities and events add to the quality of life for our residents and the surrounding areas. Our recreation programs consist of six sports programs and over 4,200 participants of all ages each year.

Joey Blethen is the Parks & Recreation Director and responsible for 3 full-time employees for the city and over 120 volunteer head coaches each season. As part of his responsibilities he oversees the recreation department of over 2000 participants each season, 13 parks, a pool facility while also serving as the staff liaison to the Community Relations Committee.
Mr. Blethen has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Winthrop University. In 2014 he received his Certified Parks & Recreation Professional Certification from the NRPA. He has worked for the City of Tega Cay since 2007.
Dustin Overton is the Recreation Coordinator and responsible for programming both youth and adult sports. His responsibilities include overseeing the tackle football, flag football, youth softball, and adult softball recreation programs.
Mr. Overton has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Winthrop University. Prior to obtaining his full time position, he completed an internship with the Parks & Rec department. He has worked for the City of Tega Cay since 2012.
